We have our fair share of supporters and people/organizations who will test us with their views and opinions. When we learn to welcome all of it as part of our growth, we get closer in touch with ourselves, our values and what we want to express. POINT #1: "DON'T FIGHT THE CYNICS" -Oftentimes we come across ideas and people who are seemingly in conflict with what we think or believe or are trying to do -- when we let go of the need to be right and are able to listen to the message we are being communicated, we find an opportunity to connect with our values and beliefs on a deeper level -- potentially discovering new avenues and strength. POINT #2: "AS ARTISTS WE ARE ENGAGED WITH THE MYSTERY OF CREATION" -There is no technique in any craft or discipline that can take the place of our curiosity, our passionate ideas or the fire of our desire. Art and the creative space is not tied to technical skill or intellectual construct. POINT #3: "ARTISTS ARE CRITICAL THINKERS" -As an artist, part of our role is to be engaged with the messages from media, friends, family, strangers etc. and formulate our own opinions in a critical way to be expressed back to the world.
