The B&E Podcast #095 "Embracing the Wild Nature of Creativity" w/ Shane Martin Soundcloud Link: soundcloud.com/thebandepodcast SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST: "If we could just let go a little more, who knows what we could create." Wow. This quote from our guest is the centrepiece for this fantastic conversation on creativity process and learning to embrace some of our powerlessness in grappling with the process. POINT #1: "RIDE THE WAVE" -We don't control much of how creativity or inspiration works. It has a life of its own. If we fight it, we will get tossed and smashed under the waves. If we learn to embrace it and work with it, we can achieve something amazing. POINT #2: "FOOLS OF THE TRADE" -We can fight technology, we can fight the tools, we can curse them, we can get aggravated, but in the end, it's all neutral. We decide our involvement with it, and how much we engage with it. We still decide its influence in our lives. POINT #3: "HUMBLE PIE" -Humility can serve us as artists in profound ways. It helps us detach, it helps us find freedom, and helps us surrender to the creative process.
