The B&E Podcast #139 “Not Making Hard Work So Hard To Do" Soundcloud Link: soundcloud.com/thebandepodcast SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST: Why does it have to be so hard!? Well... maybe it doesn't. On this episode, we talk about some of the usual suspects that make it more difficult than necessary to create. We attempt to shine a light on what gets in our way and making our work look more like play. POINT #1: "BLACK & WHITE" - When we look at everything that happens in our lives and our work as one way or the other we leave ourselves little room for error which also means little room for exploration. When it's either right or wrong and black and white, garbage or masterpiece, where do you get to play? POINT #2: “PUTTING IT ON" - So much of what makes the creative process difficult is how important we often make it, as well as where we think it needs to end up. Part of creativity is not knowing where it might go, being surprised, and landing somewhere you didn't expect. Sometimes that is precisely where it's at its best. POINT #3: “FEAR & PURPOSE" - Show me a person who is lazy and I'll show you a person who is afraid. Being able to identify our fears around our work goes a long way to overcoming them. Equally important is knowing why you want to create your work can help you overcome whatever hang-ups you may be having.
