SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
As artists, we are communicators. It's important that we are aware of the ideas that we are putting out into the world, especially when we're dealing with subject matter in violence and sex. We then take a small detour in trusting where we're at, communicating our ideas and allowing ourselves to do something that isn't great. Everything is an opportunity to learn and grow.
POINT #1: "YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR MESSAGE"
-The things we say with our art have an impact no matter how much you might doubt it. It comes down to what you want to put out into the world. Be conscious and be aware.
POINT #2: "YOUR VOICE COMES OUT WHEN YOU TRUST YOURSELF"
-Second guessing and editing yourself while you're in the middle of working is counterproductive. You don't know what the "right" answer is. By engaging and being present with your work you uncover the gems and prove to yourself that your ideas are worth it.
POINT #3: "CREATIVE PROCESS IS A MARATHON"
-If you're running a marathon, going back to redo a certain section makes absolutely no sense. You finish the race and then see where you can do better once it's done. The same is true with the creative process.

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
On Not So Serious Sunday, we talk about how identifying with our dreams can become a painful ordeal. When we learn how to have lives with other interests and pursuits we can discover a whole new meaning and perspective to our vocations.
POINT #1: "GET A HOBBY OR DISCIPLINE"
-Whether you're an actor, a writer, a musician or filmmaker -- whatever it is, it's important that you have another interest that's unrelated to your art. It helps refill the well and lends perspective on what you do.
POINT #2: "SLAVE TO THE GAME"
-Claim your power of choice. If you choose to play the games of the industry, that's fine -- know what you're in for and go for it. If it's not your interest, learn to blaze your own path or take a step back and reevaluate your sense of purpose and connection to it.
POINT #3: "THERE WILL BE BLOOD"
-It doesn't matter our level of "success" or how far we ascend the ladder, we will come up against new challenges. You can resist it or you can be present to it and move through it, finding a new appreciation for where you are.

Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. So throw away your baggage and go forward. There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet, trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair. That’s why you must walk so lightly. Lightly my darling...”

"Artistic Process Meets Industry Awareness"
iTunes Link:
https://itun.es/i6hv7ck
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
The vision you have for your art is where it all begins and where it hopefully ends -- in between is the process. Sometimes creativity happens within the process and structure itself and can launch you to a greater understanding of your work. Beyond that, it's also important to be aware and respectful of what your industry expects from you. That doesn't mean that you have to follow it but it does allow you to make a more informed and inspired decision.
POINT #1: "CREATIVITY COMES IN FORMS YOU DON'T EXPECT"
-Sometimes creative inspiration comes in the form of HOW you do your work -- your process or structure. These can give you new avenues in taking your vision to the next level, so be open to creativity in its many forms.
POINT #2: "BEING BLIND TO THE INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS CAN WORK AGAINST YOU"
-We often neglect or ignore our respective creative industry as a means of protecting ourselves, irritation or any number of reasons -- that doesn't mean you should. Being aware of industry demands and expectations as well as having respect for it can serve you in making more conscious decisions to aid you in having a career.
POINT #3: "YOUR VISION IS ALWAYS YOUR GREATEST VALUE"
-Having your ducks in a row is great, but we are drawn to people's passion and vision more than anything else. Bring people into your vision and then the rest is simply the cherry on top. Be authentic and connect to others through your most valuable asset, you!

The B&E Podcast #042
"Rooting Out Cliches & Being Original"
iTunes Link:
https://itun.es/i6hv7ck
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
The creative worlds are sometimes the most prone to falling into those old, tired, rehashed, reused, derivative ideas -- the cliches. They will almost inevitably come up but there's no need to fear them. Being aware of where they are presenting themselves can often open up new roads and present unique opportunities for your own originality.
POINT #1: "YOU WERE BORN TO BE A CLICHE"
-Most of us are so overexposed to social marketing and engineering that it's easy to unconsciously start putting that into our work. Being aware of it means that we can make conscious choices for our own voice to be heard.
POINT #2: "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH FEELING FAMILIAR"
-If your work has a familiarity to it, it's not necessarily a bad thing. It makes it accessible and opens your audience to the unique, original messages you want to communicate.
POINT #3: "YOU DO HAVE A UNIQUE VOICE"
-Wondering whether you have anything original or unique to say is a moot argument to have with yourself. You have a specific experience of life that gives you a take on the world that no one else has. Find that voice by asking yourself questions and valuing the answers you come up with.

"Challenging Your Beliefs Opens Up Your Creative Freedom"
iTunes Link:
https://itun.es/i6hv7ck
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
Over the course of our lives, we have formed all sorts of beliefs based on our experiences and things we've heard, but that doesn't make our beliefs true. Very often we hold beliefs that serve only to contain and limit us from pursuing our dreams and our happiness.
POINT #1: "IT'S NOT DEBATABLE, YOU HAVE BELIEFS"
-We've been forming them since the day we were born and continue to do so every day of our lives. It's important that we examine them and are conscious of the way we interpret and create meaning surrounding our experiences.
POINT #2: "THERE'S NO NEED TO BEAT YOURSELF UP"
-We make mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes are how we have been looking at things. Forgive yourself and learn from it. Being hard on yourself will only make it more difficult to see the lessons and move forward.
POINT #3: "EXAMINING YOUR BELIEFS IS EXCITING IF YOU ALLOW IT"
-Self-reflection can be an intimidating prospect that can bring up a lot of resistance, but when you get in the practice of doing it, it becomes a powerful tool for transformation and creating a more joyful life.

iTunes Link:

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
On another free-for-all Not So Serious Sunday, we go from Seinfeld to creating empathy to the value and misconceptions of structure. As well as sandwiches... and how sandwiches pertain to creativity. Not the most poetic metaphor but it works! Have a listen!
POINT #1: "TAKE INSPIRATION, DON'T TAKE THE IDEA"
-Learn what you like from the works you enjoy most, but don't try to recreate it. Make the next great thing!
POINT #2: "EMPATHY & COMPASSION"
-If you don't illicit these feelings from your audience, no one will really care or will connect with your work. That doesn't mean that you can't take on dark themes or ideas -- it will, in fact, take it to a deeper level.
POINT #3: "MAKE ALLIES WITH STRUCTURE"
-Don't think you're above certain structures within your creative medium. Structure permeates every natural part of our existence as well as in our creations. The word may imply containment or even imprisonment but it will actually free you to create the next great thing.

"The Education System Doesn't Know What's Best For You"
iTunes Link:

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
So much of our learning from an early age has been backward and limits our full potential. We've misplaced our values and where our value comes from. Let's unlearn our past conditioning and open up to a world full of potential and creation.
POINT #1: "QUESTION EVERYTHING YOU'VE LEARNED"
-So many of the paradigms and status quo wisdom from the past are no longer applicable or are short sighted. Find a new way forward with integrity and authenticity.
POINT #2: "YOUR VALUE IS ALWAYS WITH YOU"
-No one person, degree or amount of money can tell you what your value is. It comes down to you and what you're willing to accept as being your worth and getting acquainted with the value that you bring to the world.
POINT #3: "HOW YOU TREAT OTHERS IS A REFLECTION OF YOURSELF"
-It may seem like token advice, but it comes from a very profound place of truth. The happiest, productive people in the world have a lot of compassion for others and that begins with having compassion with yourself.

The B&E Podcast #036
"How Do You Know When You're Ready?"
iTunes Link:
https://itun.es/i6hv7ck
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
The whole idea that you are ready or not is kind of a fallacy because how will you ever know for sure. We discuss how failure is the best teacher and why our own self-image is what holds us back from doing what we are most passionate about. Being ready is partly something you prepare for, but it is also something you have to overcome as you go.
POINT #1: "BEING READY IS NOT BEING INFALLIBLE"
-There's a point where you have to exit the "classroom" and go out and do it. Actions turn knowledge to wisdom. You can't be prepared for everything and application will only deepen your understanding.
POINT #2: "INDEPENDENCE IS GREAT, WORKING TOGETHER WILL TAKE YOU FURTHER"
-We all have our deepest passion. Don't get bogged down in the things that don't serve that. Someone else has a passion for the other parts related to what you do and can make it more than what you thought possible.
POINT #3: "NO ONE CAN GIVE YOU WHAT YOU REALLY WANT, ONLY YOU CAN"
-Set your goals based on the state of mind that you want. Nothing external can give you peace or happiness -- at the end of the day, it's your decision in every moment.

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We discuss the pros and cons of the big studio system and how it's not necessarily any better or worse than any other level of production, just different. We also examine the things we can learn from the studio system and how we can help make our industry healthier and more collaborative.
POINT #1: "THOSE BIG BLOCKBUSTERS CAN TEACH YOU"
-A lot of these big movies and trends in movies can tell you a lot about what's going on in the world right now. What are audiences identifying with?
POINT #2: "EVERYONE HAS A PASSION ONE WAY OR ANOTHER"
-Some people are business people and some are artistic. If you're collaborating with each other, ask how you can help the other. It's a much healthier way of working than being defensive and on guard.
POINT #3: "FINDING THE MIDDLE GROUND"
-There are studios, production companies, and fully independents. They each have benefits and suit different stories better than others. Which end of the spectrum do you fit with?

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
On another juicy Not So Serious Sunday, we further explore the concept of how giving and helping others does more for us than trying to protect our own interests. We also discuss how seeing the world from a place of abundance or scarcity has a deep effect on our ability to create and be authentic to who we are.
POINT #1: "APPRECIATE THE PEOPLE WHO HELP YOU"
-You would be surprised by how meaningful it can be to the people in your life when you tell them specifically why you appreciate them and how they've helped you. Get in the practice of gratitude!
POINT #2: "ABUNDANCE AND SCARCITY"
-Do you see the world as out to get you or the world as your oyster? Guess which one frees you to be more authentic and create more freely? Guess which one creates MORE abundance?
POINT #3: "WHAT'S YOUR PRICE?"
-How much would it take for you to "sell out" and give up what you've pursued in your life? Being honest with yourself can teach you a lot about yourself.

"How Our Goals Often Mislead Us From Being Our True Self"
iTunes Link:

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We dive deep into the decisions we make in our lives and how the goals we make are not always in our best interest. In fact, we haven't been taught how to set goals for ourselves in a way that is authentic to who we are. Set goals based on the experience you want and not the rewards it might bring.
POINT #1: "PUT THE EXPERIENCE YOU WANT FIRST"
-We often set goals by some outcome we think will make everything better. Rather, set your goals by the kind of experiences you want to have in your life ON THE WAY! When you begin to act in this way, the rewards become meaningless regardless the outcome.
POINT #2: "RELEARN GRATITUDE"
-We've been told to be grateful from a place of feeling guilty. Find the things in your life that are truly joyful and give your gratitude!
POINT #3: "HELP THE WORLD"
-We all need each other. This is a fact. Begin to look at your passion and what you do as a way of helping your community and the world. Give and you shall receive.

With musician, producer, writer, and actress Teresa Riley, we talk about the value of what you choose to be concerned about when in creative mode. What did we come up with? Care about the work, forget about the rest. Lots of fun and a few F-Bombs dropped -- enjoy!
POINT #1: "DGAF!"
-As the title suggests, there's a great value in learning not to care about the right things. What people may or may not think of you and what you're doing is a great place to start.
POINT #2: "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WORK"
-When you remove yourself and your audience from the equation of your process, you can tap into the honesty and integrity you need to create authentic work.
POINT #3: "JUST DO IT!"
-Whether you think you're good enough or not, creating means actually creating something tangible. Your first attempts might be terrible but there's always the next one.

"The Myths of Living Life as an Artist" w/ Seth Sharp

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
With musician Seth Sharp, we talk about some of the myths around living a creative life and the importance of asking "why" when we begin down a path of an artistic career.
POINT #1: "FIND JOY IN THE WORK"
-A small percentage of what you love to do will actually be spent doing it, the rest is setting the stage. Find a way to enjoy that part too.
POINT #2: "YOUR CREATOR HAT AND YOUR EDITOR HAT"
-When you begin it's important to make it play and get the creative inspiration out until it's completed. Only THEN should you go back and start on the editing process.
POINT #3: "WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE AN ARTIST?"
-At some point, you will have to answer this question whether you've already had success or not. When it becomes hard, go back to where you first had the desire. It will either remind you and keep you going or it will tell you to move on.

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We get into past experiences and how they can limit us as creatives. Our realm is in the unknown and in trusting our truth, our experience, and voice. Relying on past successes is a huge trap. Find a new way.
POINT #1: "DON'T GET STUCK IN THE PAST"
-We can learn our lessons through past works, successes, and triumphs but also learn when to move on. After all, we can only live and experience now.
POINT #2: "BEGIN WHERE IT DOESN'T BEGIN"
-What if you told the story where it wouldn't traditionally be? What's the after? What's the beginning? What would that look like? What if it was a different drama? There are infinite roads to pursue.
POINT #3: "CHALLENGE YOURSELF -- YOUR TRUTH IS WAITING TO BE TOLD"

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
Another "Not So Serious Sunday" with Brandon and Evan. On this one we talk about trusting your audience, going on a journey in any artistic endeavor and how being "nice" is holding your art back from being authentic.
POINT #1: "ART IS FOUND IN THE EXPERIENCE"
-There's only so much you can plan before you begin your journey. You cannot control or prepare for everything. Remain open and curious.
POINT #2: "BEING NICE MIGHT JUST BE A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT"
-We often use "being nice" as an excuse not to express our truth -- it covers up what we think and who we are. You can still be a kind person and communicate with honesty.
POINT #3: "EMBRACE THE CREATIVE ROAD TRIP"

POINT #2: "VALUING YOURSELF WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER ARTIST"
-How much you value yourself as an artist has a great impact on your integrity and your ability to create freely.

"Channeling Your Creativity"

THE SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We discuss the concept that creativity may be a source we tap into that is something that is out there in the world we find, not something entirely within us. This mindset takes the pressure off of us to be special.
POINT #1: "WHERE DOES CREATIVITY COME FROM?"
-Is creativity something that we do or is it something that works through us?
POINT #2: "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SPECIAL"
-If we are indeed working WITH a creative force, then the onus isn't entirely on us allowing us to create more freely and with less fear.
POINT #3: "CONNECTING TO CREATIVITY"
-Creativity speaks to us in many ways and in ways we might not expect. Pay attention to those thoughts you might be regarding as trivial.

-You have very little say, if any, in the results of your creative efforts. Focus on the process and the journey.
POINT #2: "YOUR REASON FOR DOING YOUR ART"
-If you're in an artistic field for the recognition, you may not be in the right place.
POINT #3: "FOCUSING ON RESULTS CAN DESTROY YOU"

POINT #2: "BEING HARD ON YOURSELF HOLDS YOU BACK"
-Being hard on yourself puts you in a mind frame of doing "just enough".

Not So Serious Sunday produces our longest conversation to date. We cover fear, authenticity, joy and the value of experience. Lots of territory covered -- hope you enjoy.
POINT #1: "YOU WILL LEARN"

POINT #2: "BEING HAPPY IN HARD TIMES"
-We can always retain a sense of joy in our struggles when we shift our perceptions.
POINT #3: "RE-CREATING EXPERIENCE"

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We explore what the ego is -- where it has a place, where it doesn't and where it's holding you back.
POINT #1: "YOU'RE NOT WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE"
-We constantly try and create an image of ourselves to others that gets in the way of expressing our beautiful truth.
POINT #2: "YOU HAVE NO CONTROL"
-The idea of control is to keep us feeling safe. In art it works against you.
POINT #3: "STOP JUDGING YOURSELF"

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
In a creative and artistic career, collaboration and partnership situations or opportunities will present themselves. Whether you take them on and why are important areas you want to assess.
POINT #1: "PARTNERSHIP OR CODEPENDENCE?"
-Sometimes we take on a partner because we think we can't do it on our own. Maybe we don't have certain skills but maybe we're simply doubting our own abilities.
POINT #2: "WHO'S RESPONSIBLE?"
-If a partnership is moving forward, make sure everyone knows their role and what they're accountable for.
POINT #3: "CURIOSITY DIDN'T KILL THE CAT"

"Creating Your Own Work"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
Create something you care about and don't be a slave to your artistic industry. Creating your own work is about so much more than trying to get noticed.
POINT #1: "FORGET TRYING TO BE SEEN"
-If you're doing your own work as only a means to get attention, you're doing everyone a disservice including yourself.
POINT #2: "CHASING THE INDUSTRY WILL CONSTANTLY LEAVE YOU BEHIND"
-By pursuing creative endeavours that are of interest to YOU, you will never find yourself always trying to catch up.
POINT #3: "WHEN THINGS ARE SLOW, PURSUE YOUR PASSION"
-When a creative industry slumps, you can enlist the help of many talented people. It's the perfect opportunity to do a passion project.

Not So Serious Sunday; We explore how we allow our experiences and perceptions to influence our creative endeavours.
POINT #1: "WHETHER YOU FEEL GOOD ENOUGH OR NOT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER"
-Telling the truth, and being as honest as you can is what matters.
POINT #2: "YOUR PRESENCE AND TRUST IS ALL THAT IS ASKED"
-Artists must be engaged and responsive to the moment. The moment is your lifeline.
POINT #3: "BEING RIGHT IS A MYTH"

"Being True to Your Artistic Expression"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We talk about looking to others for approval and the notion of being better than your peers.
POINT #1: "BE A COLLABORATOR NOT A COMPETITOR"
-The idea of being better in an art than others becomes poisonous and puts an unnecessary pressure on you that only gets in the way.
POINT #2: "WE CONNECT TO TRUTH MORE THAN ANYTHING"
-Art is subjective so focus on telling the truth and people will respond. You will also be more fulfilled.
POINT #3: "FIND HOW YOU EXPRESS"
-Engage in discovering how you enjoy and most truthfully express. That's the only thing that matters.

"Trust What You Truly Want to Do"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We talk about what it is to trust yourself in your work and why it's important despite how you may be feeling.
POINT #1: "WHATEVER YOU GOT, TRUST IT"
-When it comes down to the time to do what you do, questioning your preparedness won't help. Whatever you have, trust that it will be enough.
POINT #2: "YOU ARE ALREADY A MOTIVATED PERSON"
-We often don't see ourselves as "motivated" people, but the truth is that your motivation and will have never left you. You have only chosen how to direct it.
POINT #3: "YOU HAVE A GREATNESS INSIDE YOU"

"What to Do When You Don't Feel Like Doing Anything"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We often don't feel particularly motivated, don't want to do anything, feel low or without much purpose. We try and explore where that comes from and what we can do about it when it happens.
POINT #1: "A LITTLE SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING"
-Doing nothing will throw you further into negative thoughts and feelings. Sometimes the best remedy is to dedicate even just a small amount of time to your passion.
POINT #2: "DOING NOTHING MAKES IT WORSE THAN IT IS"
-Thinking about a task that you want to get done often makes it feel insurmountable. Doing it reminds you that it isn't as tough as you believe.
POINT #3: "ACTION PROVES YOU TO YOURSELF"
-Taking small steps to completing your projects builds confidence and your own sense of self-worth. You'll surprise yourself at just how capable you actually are.

The B&E Podcast- Episode #010
"Critical vs. Constructive Criticism"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
There are lots of haters out there. Don't be one of them. Learn to recognize the people who are trying to help and the people who are simply projecting their own lack of willingness to create.
POINT #1: "IT TAKES COURAGE TO CREATE"
-From battling the inner critics to the outer ones (real and imagined), putting ourselves out there takes courage. Be courageous.
POINT #2: "ULTIMATELY YOU DECIDE"
-You are the one who decides whose criticism is helpful or not. Listen and be open but take what you find useful and forget what isn't.
POINT #3: "DON'T BE A HATER"
-Don't be a destroyer. Try and be constructive and curious about the things you subjectively dislike -- you will learn more and be a positive force in the world.

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:

POINT #1: "JOURNAL!!!"
-Getting your thoughts down on a page (or screen) is a creative act in itself that can help get the juices going as well as address some of the blocks you might be feeling.
POINT #2: "FIND A PRACTICE THAT WORKS FOR YOU"
-Make a process that works for you, otherwise you won't stick to it. Make it as easy and fun as possible FOR YOU.
POINT #3: "START SMALL"
-The important thing is to begin creating a habit -- devoting a small amount of time daily to your passion. It will create a snowball effect that will get you out of a rut and closer to your dreams!

"The Reward of Taking Creative Risks"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We talk about "The Revenant" and how taking risks in art, even in a commercial industry, can be game changing. It might be scary and uncharted territory, but in the end you may just give people something they've never experienced before.
POINT #1: "IT'S ALL ABOUT AN EXPERIENCE"
-What is the experience that you want to translate to your audience? This is one of the biggest questions you need to answer in your art. It will direct you all the way to the end.
POINT #2: "JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD"
-Making a choice for the sake of being interesting or shocking is usually a road to disaster. What are you trying to say and will your choices reflect that?
POINT #3: "IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY BUT IT MIGHT BE WORTH IT"

SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
Theme is arguably the most important part of your story but it can be a tricky concept to navigate with. We explore figuring out a theme, keeping perspective on it and how it may take a life of its own.
POINT #1: "HAVE A THEME, BUT DON'T MARRY IT"
-It's great to start with a theme but by the time your done your first draft you may find it's become something far more potent. Now rewrite!
POINT #2: "DON'T GET STUCK ON AN IDEA"
-Remain open to inspiration as it comes. It may mean completely changing some of your concepts but it may also reveal treasures you never thought of.
POINT #3: "LET IT BE DONE EVENTUALLY"

The B&E Podcast - Episode #006
"The Struggle & Dilemma in Star Wars"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We get into one of the biggest modern day movie releases of our time. We break down some of the elements that really work in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".
POINT #1: "DEMANDS OF GENRE AND EXPECTATIONS"
-Managing our expectations of a movie can greatly affect our experience of it. An action movie is not necessarily meant to be an Oscar contender. What is the experience you want to give the audience?
POINT #2: "IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT REALISM"
-There's value to be found in these larger than life moments. It doesn't make them any less worthy, especially when you consider the genre that you're writing and who it's for.
POINT #3: "REVEALING CHARACTER THROUGH THEIR ACTIONS"
-Explaining our characters is so much more interesting through what we see them do and how they behave as opposed to explaining everything to the audience.

The B&E Podcast - Episode #005
"Exploration, Experience, Expression"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
In this episode we consider what the creative process is within a "working" environment.
POINT #1: "DIVE IN"
-In art we must explore the concepts we're working with from a place of curiosity and discovery.
POINT #2: "TRYING TO GET IT RIGHT LIMITS YOU"
-It makes it almost impossible to stumble upon great truths when we're too busy trying to do what we think is right. We don't know what is necessarily "right".
POINT #3: "OUR MISTAKES CAN BE OUR GREATEST GIFTS"
-Mistakes are often great creative gifts that we fail to recognize. Don't forget to look at the things that don't go as you expected them to.

"Rules & Compassion in Art"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
In this podcast, we talk about technique and rules of craft. Why it's important to know them so that you know how to bend and even break them to suit your needs.
POINT #1: "BE THE WIELDER OF THE RULES"
-Know the rules but don't let them dictate you. You dictate the rules as the artist.
POINT #2: "KNOW WHY THE RULES ARE IN PLACE"
-The rules are there for a reason -- learn what they are because that will also help you determine when you can disregard them or twist them to your needs.
POINT #3: "GET CREATIVE WITH THE RULES"
-You could follow the rules to the letter and produce a completely uninteresting and uninspired work, in fact it is almost a guarantee.

The B&E Podcast - Episode #003
"What Kind of Movie to Make"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We often deliberate seemingly endlessly about what kinds of films to make. There's a lot to factor in when you consider the market, trends, and of course our own desires. We try to break it down and make it simple.
POINT #1: "THE PROOF OF CONCEPT"
-A new tool in getting your idea developed. It's a simple way of showing your vision to investors.
POINT #2: "ROB REINER SAYS MAKE FILMS YOU WANT TO MAKE"
-In the end what matters is that you told stories that truly matter to you. Then, whether it's a "success" or not doesn't matter.
POINT #3: "NO ONE REALLY KNOWS WHAT WILL WORK"
-While we have some ideas that have produced more consistency, there are still no guarantees. Millions have been spent on absolute duds, and little micro-budgets have become worldwide phenomenons. In the end, tell an original story that you are dying to tell!

"Dramedy, Comedy & Sci-Fi"
SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
We talk about relying on CG to tell a story and the pitfalls that can come with it, as well as the challenges of writing comedy and one of the toughest genres of all -- the dramedy.
POINT #1: "LET'S KEEP IT REAL"
-CG is a great tool in film, but sometimes there's just no substitute for the real thing. See where you might be able to do without or how you can use it subtly.
POINT #2: "IT'S STILL ABOUT THE STORY"
-Even in a big special effects film, story is still king. A great story will always make a movie better.
POINT #3: "TAKE INSPIRATION, BUT DON'T STEAL"
